Jafar Panahi has made a resolution to only make good movies, so even though it takes him three years to make one movie, he continues to make movies at his own pace.
Offside was the result of a similar occurrence which happened when Jafar Panahi’s 12 year old daugthter was denied entry into a stadium. After her father went inside the stadium, she joined him ten minutes later. To this day she refuses to tell her father how she go past the security.
Panahi's debut as a director came in 1995 with White Balloon, which won a Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
Jafar Panahi wrote a book at the age of ten which won him the first prize at a literary competition.
Jafar Panahi has served in the USA-Iraq war and has even made a documentary on his experiences during his time.
